Stakeholders are kindly invited to attend the Benguela Current Commission stakeholder workshop at the Department of Environmental Affairs in Cape Town, South Africa on 5-6 September 2011.
The aim of the workshop is to improve communication between stakeholders in the BCLME and the structures that are tasked with its management, including the BCC. Without the active involvement of stakeholders, the effective governance of the BCLME will remain a distant dream. The opportunity exists for coastal communities, the private sector, NGOs, the broader research community and government to establish strong partnerships and networks with the BCC, to foster lasting cooperation that will ensure sustainable use and management of the BCLME.
Stakeholders will be encouraged to voice their concerns at the workshop by highlighting priority issues to be considered by the BCC and also to provide input on preferred effective communication mechanisms.
