The International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation Limited (ITOPF) is a non-profit organisation that provides objective technical expertise and advice on preparing for and responding to marine spills of oil and chemicals from ships.The ITOPF R&D Award provides funding for innovative research focused on improving the response to oil and chemical spills from ships. The 2026 application window is now open and closes on 1 December 2025. The award supports short-term projects (one to two years) with up to £60 000 in funding and PhD projects with up to £40 000 plus a student stipend and university fees.
