SANBI is undertaking the National Biodiversity Assessment (NBA) 2010. This work aims to assess ecosystem status and ecosystem protection levels at a national scale. The assessment team includes SANBI staff and several consultants. The final report will be published in 2011 and follows on from the Lombard et al. 2004 NSBA report. The workshop aims to present the first national marine ecosystem map and review the preliminary results of the ecosystem threat status and protection levels. We would also like to workshop key messages, research priorities and priority actions for marine biodiversity conservation for inclusion in the report.
