Interested in being trained as a facilitator for the WWF Responsible Fisheries Training course? Attend the ‘train the trainer’ workshop on the 19th -21st April to learn the key principles required to facilitate the course, and become part of world first initiative that aims to improve the sustainability of our marine resources through increasing capacity on the ground.
WWF runs training courses aimed at skippers and officers in commercial fishing sectors to promote the understanding and implementation of an ecosystem approach to fisheries management. We are currently looking for a number of people interested in facilitating this course. Ideally the following experience is required:
- Ability to teach and share information in a participatory and interactive way.
- At sea experience.
- Background in marine biology, conservation and/or fisheries management.
The course is provided free of charge. Those who go through the training have the opportunity to be employed by the course providers to facilitate the course on an ad hoc basis.
The ‘Train the Trainer’ session consists of 3 days, and will be held at different venues:
Day 1 (19th April):
A one day workshop where WWF will present information to the potential facilitators on the course material, content and way to present and the facilitators will get a chance to prepare a short part of the course to present the next day at the actual training course to skippers).
Time: 10am – 3pm
Venue: To be confirmed
Day 2 and 3 (20th and 21st April):
The WWF Responsible Fisheries training course for skippers will be run on these two days, giving the potential facilitators a chance to present a small section to the skippers and interact in the course.
Time: 9:30am – 3:30pm both days
Venue: Viking Fishing, South Arm Road, Waterfront, Cape Town
Please contact Nicola Okes at
