Short Course in Environmental Management Theory and Practical Application

GENERAL INFORMATION

The course is based at the University of Cape Town Breakwater Campus, at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. The course fee covers tuition and field excursion costs, refreshment breaks and lunches. Delegates are responsible for their own accommodation costs, as well as meals other than lunch. A block booking for accommodation has been made at the Breakwater Lodge which adjoins the course venue. A comprehensive course manual that includes up-to-date readings will be provided for each participant.
A certificate will be awarded to participants who successfully complete the course.
The course commences at 14.00 on Monday 29 November 2004, and ends at 13.00 on Friday 10 December. Travel arrangements should be made to ensure that you are in Cape Town by mid-morning on the 29 November. Return journeys should be scheduled for the afternoon of Friday 10th December.
COST: R12000 or US$ 2000
(VAT Exempt)
A deposit of R2000 or US$350 must accompany your application. Once you have been offered a place on the course, an invoice will be sent to you. The full fee must reach the EEU by 1 November 2004. In the event of cancellation after 1 November, 50% of the fee will be forfeit. Cheques should be crossed and made payable to UNIVERSITY OF CAPE TOWN, (postal address: EEU, UCT, Private Bag, Rondebosch, 7701, South Africa).

BURSARY SUPPORT

It is EEU policy to make a limited number of bursaries available to South Africans who would benefit from attending the course. The bursaries are worth R6000. Motivations for bursaries should be sent to Lynn O’Neill (contact details appear below).

Advances in Marine Ecosystem and Modelling Research
This international symposium is being convened as a forum for presentation and discussion of all aspects of model based marine ecosystem research, encompassing numerical, conceptual, mathematical and statistical approaches. We are particularly keen that this symposium will contribute to the next generation of model based exploration by providing scientists and students an opportunity to discuss and contrast recent advances, outstanding problems and future requirements.
