This year we want to learn from each other to see how people are putting all these things into practice in the classroom. Therefore we link the presentations with a “discovery tour”, meaning more sharing of hands-on lessons on the go. The educators will link the presentations with lesson plans and curriculum outcomes. Please think about this and feel free to come forward and share what you are doing with the learners in the workplace.
Local experts and scientists will be invited to talk on the work that they are doing and will conduct field trips in the Richtersveld National Park, Alexander Bay / Orange River Mouth, Port Nolloth, Hondeklip and Kleinzee.

Each organisation will be asked to make an A2 poster to show the work that they do – hopefully this will initiate discussion and a further sharing of ideas. Exhibitions will be held in Kleinzee on Thursday. Participants will be requested to man their respective exhibitions, answer questions, interact, and distribute material of their organisations during this time.
The conference will cost R1300 for MCEN members and R1500 for non-members. This includes all meals and accommodation.

The Marine and Coastal Educators Conference is always the most wonderful opportunity for people who are passionate about the sea to get together for five days, and talk shop while having fun at the same time. It is always a good way to start the year while you are fresh after your leave and filled with enthusiasm for the year ahead.
The numbers are limited to 60 participants, so please reserve your place before the end of October. First preference will be given to MCEN members ( so become an MCEN member). The final programme will be forwarded to you early November.
