for information and further action. Any bona fide university student (between the ages of 17 to 25 at the start of the competition) from chartered universities/higher education institutions across Africa is eligible for the competition. Entries from teams will also be accepted; however, only two members from a winning team can participate in the workshop.
UNEP, under its flagship programme of Mainstreaming Environment and Sustainability in African (MESA) Universities Partnership, in collaboration with UNICEF, UNU, Strathmore University, University of Uppsala, Inter-varsity Environment Network and MCSDP is giving you an opportunity to come up with an idea as to how you would promote sustainable solutions to help combat climate change in your college. Share your idea for a project that could have an impact in terms of improving the environment and helping to combat/mitigate/adapt to the impacts of climate change in your college. Your project should take into account the current climate, environment and development issues in Africa and also outline the steps you will take to implement your idea.
Your idea for a sustainable solution can take the form of a scientific, cultural/social, political, or business measures. The challenge you have is to persuade us how your project will have both a beneficial local and global impact in addressing climate change. Other vital considerations for winning ideas are the buy in of your institution, sustainability and funding plan as well as assurance that you will be able to implement the project and carry it through to the end.
