This is a three-week intensive course for people working toward management of more sustainable fishery resources and communities. The application of ecosystems approaches to fisheries management is the overarching theme of this leadership workshop. The participants will be introduced to the concepts in fisheries science and technology, including stock assessments and population dynamics; social and economic issues; management principles, focusing on the development of management objectives; how to apply basic and innovative tools to achieve those objectives and how to develop and implement an effective co-management strategy. Registration deadline is June 1, 2012.
